Lake Vassivière ( Vaciviéra in Occitan ) is a French artificial lake of 9.76 km 2 which was created by the construction of a dam located on the Maulde at the exit of its valley framed by its two hills, at the place ideal for building a dam. The largest body of water in Limousin and one of the largest artificial lakes in France 1 , it is located northwest of the Millevaches plateau, in a thick forest, separated in two by the departments of Creuse and Haute-Vienne , and near Corrèze .
